Why I Built TREMODI

Marianna Macaluso

The beginning

I spent over twenty years in hospitality. I gave it everything. The hours, the energy, the relentless pace of an industry that takes more than it gives back. I loved it. And then, in March 2025, like so many of my peers, I was made redundant.

What followed was the best summer I have ever had. Buying plants and having coffee with my mum, something that used to make me so jealous, watching other people do it, as if they had time to stop and have coffee. Time with my kids where I wasn't rushing us out the house, not screaming every other sentence because of some invisible urgent clock I used to live by. I floated for a while. Consultancy came calling and I fell into it, because that is what you do. You monetise what you know and you keep moving. But I knew something had shifted. I had seen another side of life and I could not go back to working for someone else, or another conversation about labour budgets. Something in me was crying out for change.

I had lost my purpose and I knew it. I needed something to need me. I had really prayed for something to scream at me again.

"I had lost my spark and I needed to believe in something again."

Two kids, a partner who is a chef, a life that moves at speed even when you are standing still. I was floating and I knew it. Fighting the fear of feeling lost. Wondering whether the version of me that moved fast and thought clearly and handled everything was just gone.

This had been building for a while, if I am honest. Since my second child. Staring at walls. Having to read the same sentence six times because my brain was not computing. Stuttering in meetings when I had always been the quickest person in the room. A laziness taking over me that was not me at all. And snapping at the people I love because stress was consuming me and I could not control it.

The phone call

For two years I'd bought everything I was sold. NAD+ supplements were first. I had no idea what it even was, but I heard "energy" and it was a say-less moment. Then I found out NAD+ largely can't cross the cell membrane intact, so I fell down the next hole: liposomal, because that was supposed to fix it. Then NMN. Once it's been on your phone once, you can't get away from it, and every celebrity apparently doing it, so it must work. £35, no questions asked, for what was marketed as 2500mg of one ingredient. Turned out that was the tub, not the dose. The actual serving was 500mg. And NMN gets broken down in the gut before it can even reach the cells it's meant to support. It was also making me feel worse, while everyone else online was apparently cleaning the house top to bottom because they had so much energy and their clock was ticking backwards. NMN still isn't fully authorised for sale in the UK, and everyone was lapping it up anyway. So I called Mat, partly to gossip but also to complain once more.

Mat, the most patient friend in the world, listened to all of it. Then said: why don't you just make your own?

"I genuinely thought he was mad. A bottle of wine later, I was booking manufacturer calls."

I woke up the next morning panicking. Nearly cancelled everything. But instead I delayed the calls and did something I should have done before I spent a penny on any supplement: I actually looked at what was out there. Really looked.

What I found made me more determined, not less. Generic websites all saying the same thing. Impressive numbers on labels that meant nothing. Things that probably would have worked cost £350 or more a month. Who can sustain that without feeling guilty? The science was there. The honesty was not. Nobody had built the thing I actually wanted.

What it is really about

Somewhere in building it, I found my spark again. Not from the NAD+, not from the science itself. From actually being interested in something again, properly interested, for the first time in a long time. I had to listen to that screaming voice inside me instead of pushing it back down.

I built TREMODI because I wanted it to exist. I make no promises about how it will make you feel. I cannot tell you it will fix anything. What I can tell you is that I built the formula I wished I could have found, at a dose I could justify, at a price I would actually pay myself.

There is nothing better than feeling great, nailing life, and then sitting down at the end of the day with a glass of wine and a good friend, knowing your shit is under control. That feeling is what I wanted back. TREMODI is what I made to put alongside the other things I do for myself.

TREMODI is the formula I was searching for when all of this started. I am glad I had to build it, or I would still be floating around, lost and without my purpose.

It took over twenty manufacturer conversations to find people I trusted. Half wanted to sell me a white label. The other half assumed I did not know what I was asking for. I did. Every meeting that went nowhere brought me closer to the one that did.

This is the beginning. TREMODI is the first formulation from Gia Quantia Labs. It will not be the last.

"Those who demand better tend to find it."
